Roller Derby Diaries: SheBiscuit

"The history of the Outfit goes back to 2007, when a group of women created a new league called the ChiTown Sirens. They taught themselves how to skate wherever they could (notably, parking lots) and relied on each other to gain skills and teach them to the group. It dissolved from the inside, but there were still a few who wanted to see a skater run league with a heavy focus on travel and play time. These women drew up a logo, picked some colors and named it Chicago Outfit Roller Derby. It has since grown to over 60 active members, attained status as a WFTDA league in 2011 and maintains a D.I.Y., nearly entirely skater run league to this day. My history with the Outfit only goes back to the summer of 2009, so I relay it as I’ve heard it."
